Specs:
- 1994 Honda Accord EX Sedan
- Black pearl with grey/black interior
- F22B1 engine with manual transmission
The Plan:
- We initially bought Projet Accord because it was in good shape mechanically but needed body work and some interior work. The asking price was good because it looked so bad. After sending it off to the body shop to have all the dents and rust body worked and primed we installed a few parts. Shortly after that we lost interest in Project Accord because of the amount of work it still needed. After letting it sit for about 6 months we decided to jump back in. Scroll down to see what we've done so far or read on to where Project Accord is headed.
- Project Accord will be a daily driver for my wife. She enjoys the occasional on/off-ramp fun but really likes a comfortable ride. To acomodate her, the ride will stay (somewhat) soft and the interior intact. I'll add sound deadening so she can enjoy the sound system I'll build for it. Project Accord will get finished off with new paint, some nice wheels (no bling) and an in depth alarm install. So while it'll be too soft for my taste, it should be a fun build and turn out nice.
- Project Accord has already progressed some and I've listed the modifications already done below. From this point on any changes made will be chronicled more in depth and I'll post them in an article format with pictures.
Modifications:
- Injen black powder coated cold-air intake
- Megan Racing 2-piece 4-2-1 stainless steel header
- Magnecor 8.5mm plug wires
- Panasonic CD/MP3 head unit
- OEM black pearl respray
- Amber corner lights
- Shaved all rear emblems
In the works:
- Tein H-Tech lowering springs
- KYB GR-2 shocks
- Hub over rotor front brake conversion
- (re)tinted windows
- Door panel inserts & arm rest recovered with grey suede
- Audiobahn mids and highs
- Audiobahn 2ch amp
- 2 Audiobahn 12s in ported enclosure
- Second Skin Audio vibration/sound deadening
- Viper alarm with extra goodies
- New interior carpet
- Ceramic coat the header
Updates:
- February 20, 2007 - Project Accord is born. It receives an Injen cold-air intake and Magnecor plug wires as part of it's first tune-up with us. Might as well upgrade while your in there right?
- March 23, 2007 - We finished installing a Megan Racing stainless header and Panasonic CD/MP3 head unit. I know the header doesn't give great gains on the EX, but it looks great and is lighter. We did get a little better throttle response and a small bump in power up top. The head unit is easier to justify. Tapes suck! I really like Panasonic head units. I like the look of the face and the price for the features is always good.
- April 15, 2007 - Project Accord is at the body shop having all the dents worked out and the rust cut out and patched. We're using Johnston's Bodyworks in Ladonia, Al for all the paint and body work. It's a small shop, but he does great work.
- October 20, 2007 - After a 6 month break I just spent the last two full days peeling and scraping off all the old, purple, bubbled and peeling tint. My fingers are sore and moving them hurts but the Accord looks so much better now. We'll do new tint after it's been painted.
- November 30, 2007 - Project Accord is finally out for paint!
- April 19, 2008 - After tons of delays we have Project Accord back from the bodyshop. It looks amazing! The body is straight and the paint looks miles deep. Now I have to get off my butt and start putting the interior back together.
- July 6, 2008 - After several 10-11 hours days working on Project Accord the new carpet, amp wiring and some of the interior panels are in. I also got in several coats of Second Skin Audio's spray-on sound/vibration deadener, Spectrum. Check out the full story with pics here.
